Welcome

Slow down. The forest will wait for you.

Cooper's Ozark Cabin sits on 40 private acres deep in the Ozark National Forest, 22 miles north of Clarksville just off Highway 21, the Ozark Highlands Scenic Byway. You will not see a neighbor from the porch. To the west, the property borders national forest land that is free to roam all the way to the Mulberry River.

Evenings here mean a soak in the hot tub under the stars, a session in the steam room, or a fire in the wood burning fireplace. We supply the wood. Mornings mean coffee on the sunset patio while the fog lifts off the ridges.

The cabin sleeps 8 across two king bedrooms and an upstairs bunk room with four twin beds. It welcomes your dog and keeps remote workers happy with 1GB fiber Wi-Fi.

"This is one of the best hidden gems in the area as far as a place to stay. The whole property is well thought out with lots to do and see without ever leaving your cabin. The view is amazing and it was easy to get to, but very secluded."

FAQ

Questions guests actually ask us

Booking and rates

How much does the cabin cost per night?
Rates vary by season, generally between $180 and $240 per night. Book direct below or through Airbnb and Vrbo, where you will always see the exact total for your dates.
Is there a minimum stay? Can I book just one night?
We usually have a two night minimum, especially on weekends and holidays. If you only need one night, reach out anyway. Guests have asked before for special occasions like a Father's Day surprise, and when the calendar allows we try to make it work.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy follows the platform you book through, with a full refund window if you cancel far enough in advance. Message us with your dates and we will spell out exactly how it applies to your trip.
Can we host a wedding or event at the cabin?
Small weddings and events have real potential here, and we have the setting for it. There is an additional fee, and we like to talk through the details first. Reach out to the owner at drake.c.dewitt@gmail.com with your plans before booking and we will figure out what works.

Check-in and directions

What time are check-in and checkout?
Check-in is at 3:00 pm and checkout is at 11:00 am. If you are arriving early, let us know. We cannot always swing an early check-in, but we will tell you honestly either way.
Where is the cabin and is it hard to find?
The cabin sits on 40 secluded acres at 879 County Road 5590, Ozone, AR 72854, up in the Ozark mountains. We send full directions and check-in details before your stay, and we are quick to respond if you have trouble on the way in. You can also pull up directions on Google Maps.
What are the roads like? Can I get there in a regular car or towing a trailer?
Guests arrive in everything from sedans to two wheel drive trucks pulling UTV trailers. The last stretch is country road, so take it slow and you will be fine. Message us about your vehicle and we will give you the honest rundown for current conditions.

Pets

Is the cabin pet friendly?
Yes! Dogs are welcome, and plenty of guests bring two. From solo travelers with an old lab mix to families with a pair of pups over Thanksgiving, four legged guests are part of the family here.
Are there any rules for dogs?
Just the common sense stuff: keep an eye on them outside, since this is real wilderness with deer and the occasional bear, and clean up after them inside. If you have a question about anything specific, just ask us.

Amenities

Is firewood provided?
Yes. The wood burning fireplace comes with wood supplied, and there is a fire pit and chimenea outside for bonfire nights.
How many people does the cabin sleep?
The cabin sleeps 8: two king bedrooms downstairs plus four twin beds in the upstairs bunk room. Yes, all four twins are really up there, even if one is easy to miss at first!

Property and surroundings

How close is the nearest grocery store?
The cabin is wonderfully remote, so stock up before you head up the mountain. The nearest stores are a drive away in town, and we include the closest options in your check-in info.
Is there hiking nearby?
Absolutely. You are surrounded by the Ozarks, with hiking trails nearby and 40 private acres to wander right outside the door. There is even a hammock waiting for you.
Where can we ride UTVs or 4 wheelers near the cabin?

Plenty of guests bring their side by sides and ATVs, about a quarter of our visitors are into off roading. There are even some trails right on the property. Local favorites:

  1. Three miles north on Highway 21, turn left on CR 9360 and follow the church signs. Past the church it turns into a forestry road, a little rough but ridden all the time, and it comes out just east southeast of Catalpa. Locals know it as Rossetta Road, and it makes a good jeep ride too.
  2. Approved ATV trails up Highway 215 toward Byrd's Adventure Center on the Mulberry River.
  3. About a mile south on Highway 21 there is a gravel county road on the left that runs all the way down to Little Piney Creek, a fantastic ATV ride.
  4. Mill Creek OHV trail area is roughly an hour away for a bigger day of riding.
Will we see wildlife?
Very likely. Deer wander through regularly and black bears live in these woods, which is part of the magic. Keep food secured and pets supervised.
Is there a storm shelter or basement?
No basement or storm shelter at the cabin. We will always point you to current forecasts if storms are in the picture, and we are happy to talk through weather questions before your stay.

House rules

Can extra guests beyond our booking join us?
The cabin hosts a maximum of 8 overnight guests. Please keep your reservation guest count accurate. We will ask to confirm party size before approving larger bookings.
Can we extend our stay or check in a night early?
Often yes, when the calendar is open. Message us and we will confirm availability right away.
